Since when can you get a SiteMaster for $1800? You'd have to get one 10 years old that's been to hell and back for that price, and pray that it still works. This seems like a very good alternative to me.

got my AA-500 2 days ago, what can I say, I am so happy with it, fast, easy to use, accurate, good resolution, easy pc program, it all works just out of the box, no need to read manuals just pure enjoyment, I work with RF radio as a pro and have access to fullblown network analyzers even in my spare time, but they are too heawy to carry arround and too expensive to own as a private person I think the AA-500 is cool, but a 1G or 2G or 3G version would be a cool option for the future.
only one minor thing I found: why dont the swr sweep start when I go into the swr screen ? I need to press ok to start it, no big deal, I would just have made it auto start to save time.

Well, I have been using this analyzer for some time now and I find it quite capible and well worth the cost. It's easy to use, quick to set up and small and lite. Most of us don't need the added functionality of a Wiltron or Anritsu, we need a quick check of antenna and feed line condition or need to tune a multi-element antenna. This is where the AA-500 makes sense to me. I just purchased my own after using a friends and I think it was money well spent. BTW; I have over 25 years in the two-way business and have used the afore mentioned portable units as well as just about every service monitor out there. If I'm up a tower, the AA-500 is in my tool bag. (too bad it doesn't range to 1 GHz but, 500 is usually adaquate for my current needs). Note to RigExpert, please consider a ruberized case or surface. It's gets a bit slippery. Oh, and on a personal note, go gray, the green is kinda strange..

I guess what he is trying to say is if you can afford to spend $700 on this rather than less than half on an MFJ/Autek, maybe you would also be able to spend the extra on a more capable product?

Why spend $700 when you can get a Computerized Service Monitor for $1800 with a tracking generator? This is a SiteMaster Wanabe and it's too expensive for most hams and not anywhere near capable enough for those that would spend $$$.
