RigExpert AA-230 - Antenna Analyzer (0.3 to 230 MHz)

RigExpert AA-230PRO - Antenna Analyzer (0.3 to 230 MHz) + Time Domain Reflectometer

RigExpert AA-230 and AA-230PRO are powerful, laboratory grade antenna analyzers designed for testing, checking, tuning or repairing antennas and antenna feedlines in 0.3 to 230 MHz range.

Mainly, these are SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) and impedance measurement instruments (vector impedance analyzers).

Easy-to use measurement modes, as well as additional features such as memory storage and connection to a personal computer, make RigExpert analyzers attractive for professionals and hobbyists. It is quite important that graphical display of various parameters over a wide frequency range is a key feature of these analyzers which significantly reduces the time required to adjust an antenna.

The new MultiSWR™ and SWR2Air™ modes are unique for these antenna analyzers.

The built-in TDR (Time Domain Reflectometer) mode which is available in RigExpert AA-230PRO is ideal for locating cable faults.

The following tasks are easily accomplished by using RigExpert AA-230 and AA-230PRO:

  • Rapid check-out of an antenna
  • Tuning an antenna to resonance
  • Antenna SWR and impedance measurement and comparison before and after specific event (rain, hurricane, etc.)
  • Making coaxial lines or measuring their parameters
  • Cable testing and fault location
  • Measuring capacitance or inductance of reactive loads

We use now a 230 and a 1000 type. This is a beautifull instrument with great value. We use them professional in the offshore and shipping industry. Before we used a MFJ-269 from the stone ages. We doubt for several years, but had to buy it years earlier. With this powerfull tool, the price is no issue anymore.
Good job, thank you!!

The AA-230 is the finest analyzer I have ever used. It is very accurate and being able to use it with a computer to upgrade firmware and run software adds to it's funcionality. It is made of high qaulity parts and is loaded with features (like SWR2AIR) ingenius. Look for my youtube review of this product coming soon

About a year and a half ago I almost bought an MFJ or Autek offering at half the price. Fortunately while shopping on line I found your site during a search. The AA 230 is over 4 times the functionality at only twice the price, and vastly more reliable. That is a bargain no matter who you are. I haven't regretted the purchase once and actually look foreword to using it. My only suggestion would be a more in-depth manual. Thank you so much for a truly fine instruments at far more than reasonable prices.

So easy even a caveman can use it. Easy, intuitive interface. So much better than my old MFJ. Compact enough to take anywhere. A great addition to the shack.

I have to add another comment here since I was extremely pleased with professional and lightning fast support provided by RigExpert team.
TDR download and phase angle issues were resolved almost immediately after being communicated.
Firmware and program updates were released the next day. Phase angle values are now calculated with proper accuracy and TDR data are read flawlessly by PC.
Well done!

I have purchased AA-230PRO from Rigexpert net in Canada, who kindly offered me some discount.
The instrument is definitely not cheap, but its price is reasonable, considering its value.
However, I do not share Administrator’s optimism who hopes that “it is already far away from its competitors”. It does not, and I am not intended discussing it here.

The instrument’s main advantage - its hand-held design and quite accurate readings of SWR and (most of the time) load impedance with ability to distinguish a sign of reactance, e.g. tell the difference between capacitance and inductance.
The only difference between AA-230PRO and AA-220 that I have discovered was ability of AA-230PRO to calculate and to display on LCD the Time Domain Response which indicates the distance between the instrument and a problem in transmission line. That is really great tool.

While tuning KT-34 antenna I compared AA-230PRO SWR readings with IC-7600 and
Daiwa CN-801HP SWR meters. AA-230PRO demonstrated perfect match with its Japanese colleagues.

I also tested instrument’s abilities to interface with PC. AntScope program was capable of downloading and displaying data from the instrument, such as SWR, Return Loss and Impedance com... read more »

Administrator comment: Dear Evgeny, please see the Downloads section of this website for new versions of the firmware. The "95% bug" is fixed in version 306.

I Thing is a good tool and the right direction. If on this product you add and the Freq Range of UHF(410-480 MHz)then becomes far away from it's competitors.

Administrator comment: Dear Alex, we hope it is already far away from its competitiors. :-)
